Jeannie & Galen Wedding
A couple months ago, I had the privilege of shooting with my good friend Junshien. He's a kick butt photographer and moving fast in the wedding photography scene. He shoots a lot with Scott Robert, who is known for his workshops and high-energy. It's fun being able to work together in this industry to try and elevate each other. I have met very few number of photographers who were closed off or seemed competitive. I think David Jay's example of the more you give the more you receive in this industry is really true. I've been finding that the more I give of my time and energy to my fellow photographers, the more they share the love back to me, sometimes ten fold! Junshien, is one of those guys that does that and it's been fun helping each other out. I'll be putting up a couple more weddings that I shot with other photographers last year, now that we're done with our own clients' work.
The girls made the guys wait outside and bargain their way into Jeannie's apartment to pick her up. This is one of those shots where I remember thinking, how do I capture this moment?
Jeannie wore a beautiful traditional dress for the tea ceremony.
Reminds me of a Wong Kar-Wai film. In the mood for love? Ingrid likes how the light just wraps all around her.
This is one of those places that make me think that I'm somewhere in Europe, with that huge windmill in the back.
All the little details of the ceremony really made everything come together.
While riding in the cable car, Jeannie and Galen decide to stop by Walgreens for some ice cream. And cereal? I LOVE this shot.
Posing with ramen noodles. Girls do the funniest things in front of cameras.
Group shot at the Legion of Honor.
Jeannie must have been watching Top Model, because her poses looked gooood.
The guys fighting with parasols. Never before did pink look so manly.
The cable car that took us all around town.
I love the composition in this shot. The arrow, cityscape, grass, and of course the lovely couple!
Their reception was held at the Yank Sing. Cool looking cake!
Yeeeaaaoow! They had a photo booth from Red Cheese Photo Booths. I'll have to scan my smoking hot session with Junshien and add it later.
Cindy & Eugene | UC Berkeley campus | Sproul | Doe Library | Campanile | Memorial Stadium | Engagement Session
A great smile from Eugene!
While wandering around, we encountered a group of swing dancers on Sproul. We snuck Cindy and Eugene in there and told them to hold very still so that we could drag the shutter speed a little.
Campanile!
Flying scissor kick practice in the woods. Cindy was once on the Cal Wu-Shu team. Don't try this at home.
I love the dramatic light of the setting sun and how they're so into each other.
Eugene was very excited to go to Memorial Stadium to get some football shots.
Eugene has actually been training Cindy how to play football in the last 5 years! Isn't that so cool, needless to say Ingrid wasn't amused. How does one go about getting girlfriend to play football? One of life's mysteries.
Man, maybe Cal should recruit Cindy for their offense...and defense.
Relaxing after some exercise.
Touchdown!
Marianne & Duane Slideshow
This is our biggest slideshow yet. 160 whopping images! This makes me want to go back to Barbados and hang out with Marianne and Duane again. We wanted to end our 2007 blogging year with a bang. I can't think of a better way than to end it with this slideshow. And to think that Marianne and Duane could have gone with another photographer! I'm so glad that they chose us. We love you guys and wish you all the best in 2008.
As for everyone else, thanks for continuously stalking our blog and for leaving us comments. We really appreciate all the great emails and referrals that you guys send our way. With all your help we've already booked more weddings for 2008 than we've done in 2007! And with that, we wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Sleeping with the (Jelly) Fishes
I could not fall asleep Friday night no matter what I did. I was so excited about seeing fishes at the Monterey Bay Aquarium the next day. So on the very long car ride over there, I fell asleep soundly while Jerry drove the whole way, shaking his fist at our faulty GPS. And on the long car ride back, I fell asleep again. And this is the day after he drove the whole six hours from Los Angeles... where I fell asleep for most of the car ride only to wake up towards the end because I felt so bad. haha... sorry Jerry.
Anyway, I think I digressed. We took our cameras and got some really nice shots! Most of these images are of jelly fish because jelly fish are the bestest.

This little guy was so cute, like the little engine that could.
Looks as if this should smell really good, too bad it probably only smells like sea water.
Jelly Fish are so photogenic.
Holy cow, look at him! It looks like something I made out of clay in kindergarten! It also looks like it was taken by an iphone. It was actually really dark and they don't allow tripods into the aquarium, so we had to bump up our ISOs.
Mini-jellies.
These guys were gorgeous. The aquarium did a great job choosing the right blue to highlight their colors.
I've always wondered, where are their nervous systems? Is it that globby white thing in the middle?
These guys pulse faster than the others. The aquarium had jazz playing that matched their pulsing beat. They are also edible!
A Jelly Fish feasting on krill.
Looks like two ladies dancing!
Jessica
Jerry loves to meet people everywhere he goes. At one of the local hair salons, he met Tiffany, an amazing artist with hair and fashion. We were intrigued with her very cool style. Together, we decided to set up a creative shoot with Jessica, a model and actress in local theater.
This was an excellent opportunity to try out tons of new looks in crazy out-of-the-box places. I never expected to be in downtown Oakland holding a flash over Jessica as she lay on a railway that ran under a freeway over pass, while nervously squinting over the deploying flash for approaching trains. Interesting times, but it was completely worth it!!!! The shots are not of the traditional wedding variety but we were so excited about them so we'd like to share them with you.
We were also able to hit the Oakland Amtrack station and a small bar in the Temescal district in Oakland that had interesting lighting.
These are some of our favorites!

Iris & Eric | Los Angeles | Apartment | Walt Disney Concert Hall | MOCA | Waterfall | Engagement Session
When Iris found out about my photography, it was one of those, 'wow, it's a small world' type moments. Iris and I are old middle school friends from way back in the day. It's been a while since we've actually seen each other, much less known what the other person has been up to in recent years.
One day Iris went to her friend's place, and her friend was looking at the blog of her wedding photographer, J. Sandifer Photography. J. Sandifer put up one of my images as his image of the day and Iris's friend quickly read my name out loud. Iris vaguely recognized the name, but didn't go over to see if it was actually her old middle school friend. Later that night, she went home and, being curious, googled my name. Much to her delight, the 'Jerry Yoon' she heard was her old friend, who had now become a wedding photographer! Fortunately, she happened to be looking for a wedding photographer for her wedding in March.
I was so excited when she emailed me that first time, because I was also flabbergasted at how she found out about me in such a random way. Well, we had a great time catching up and I'm sure we'll be much better at keeping in touch now that we'll be shooting their wedding. What a sweet way to reconnect with an old friend! And thanks J. for putting up one of my images on your blog, without which Iris and I would probably not have reconnected for another 13 years!
Eric propsed to her with a bunch of these frog candles, thinking that she loves frogs, but it turned out that she has no idea where he got that idea.
They wanted to do some photos in their new apartment. We hung out on their couch, played Wii and then put Iris on the countertop.
The sun was setting making for a cool silhouette shot. I love the colors in this one.
Iris being her gorgeous self. The sun was directly in her eyes, I hope she doesn't have permanent damage. Anything for the shot right?
We made our way to the Walt Disney Concert Hall and played around in those cool Frank Gehry walls.
The sun was setting, making for some cool evening shots.
They wanted some cool city shots at night. I love it when couples want something different.
We found this cool spot with just one light coming from above. We almost passed it by, since we were done shooting at the concert hall. I'm so glad we stopped.
Eric was such a good sport that night. We all thought he was going to get just a little wet, but he came out completely soaked. It was so fun setting this up and shooting it. It's probably because I stayed dry.
Iris was very proud of her brave fiance.
