preston castle shoot | part 1 | ione | california

I was graciously invited by Caroline and Dan of Tinywater photography to come shoot with a group of photographers at Preston Castle in Ione.  I know, Ione? I don't know.  But it was a shoot to remember.  The hair, makeup, dresses, and models were "i liiiike very much".  I was reeling from the amount of eye candy all around.  We had to break up this post into 5 parts because of all the goodies.  So everyday we'll release a new one!

Our first post is some of the getting ready.  Just some teasers to whet the appetite.  Stay tuned...

elyzabeth + joe | cathedral basilica of saint joseph | hilton hotel | san jose | wedding

after our engagement session with elyzabeth and joe months back, i knew right away that their wedding is going to be wild and crazy.  it was definitely just that and more.  from the moment i walked into their getting ready room till the end of the night, it was just a fun ride with these two.

we had a wedding at the cathedral the week before and the challenge in that is to find shots that are totally different than before.  i think we managed to get some unique stuff walking around.  here's some of the highlights from the day.

real men wear pink.  when i first walked in this is pretty much what i saw.  guys running around in pink socks and lots of hair.  i hope you're having as much fun as i did staring.

fyi, i did not pose any of this.

elyzabeth could not stop smiling and laughing the whole day.  she probably had the most fun of any bride i know.  that's what a bride supposed to do!

not the normal silhouette, so me likes.

love this shot right before they're about to enter.

during prayer, joe snuck a look, probably making sure security is tight.  i guess you can never be too cautious as a marine.

one thing about joe and elyzabeth is that if you just leave them alone they start doing all kinds of fun stuff together.

as we're walking around town we found a garage.  garages have interesting light and great backdrops.  sooo much better than a bland tree with grass.  oh and elyzabeth looks stunning.

this one's for his facebook profile.

i would pay to hear what elyzabeth said to joe here.

my fav of the day.  hotels sometimes have the coolest lit walls.

these chairs make you feel like you're in a womb.

joe's mom is a riot.  she's got so much sas and she's running for mayor!

i hope this one doesn't get him in trouble.

joe and elyzabeth got down the whole night.

melissa + tristan | new york city | post wedding photography

i heart nyc.  i know it's kinda cliche and everyone has the shirt.  but the vibe in new york is unlike any other city i've ever been to.  when melissa and tristan wanted to do a post-wedding session in new york we jumped at the chance.

here are a few highlights of our crazy night in nyc together!

Una Bella Sera | Julia Morgan Ballroom | Amazae Special Events | Nicole Ha Designs | San Francisco

Crystal LeQuang and Nicole Ha put on an amazing display of vendors and work last night at their annual event Una Bella Sera.  We had the honor of being a featured photographer at the event and had tons of fun schmoozing with some of the hottest vendors in the industry.  We also got to see lots of our photographer friends and also saw some past and future clients.

Each vignette was inspired by one of our seven continents.  We were assigned to shoot the Asian themed room- here are a list of the amazing vendors that put it all together.

Event Designer: Crystal LeQuang of Amazae Special Events

Floral Designer: Nicole Ha Designs

Lighting and Drapery: Enhanced lighting

Rentals: Cort Event Furnishing, Hartmann Studios, Wild Flower Linens

Caterer: Le's Kitchen

Stationary: Cards De Luxe, Paper Orchid Stationary

Specialty: Asian Import Store

And here are the other vignettes that we were able to shoot throughout the night.

We got to catch up with some of our friends: Gustavo Fernandez, Gene Higa, Aaron Dieppa, and Caroline and Dan of Tinywater Photography.  And many more we haven't posted here!

Last but not least, the amazing and talented Nicole Ha.

kathryn + quang | hotel valencia | santana row | cathedral basilica of saint joseph | dynasty | wedding

kathryn and q have got some major style.  kathryn looked absolutely stunning, even to the point where pictures probably don't do her justice.  and of course q, he just oozes this calm and cool style that he pulls off so effortlessly.  now all that doesn't matter if they didn't have the best personalities to match.  working with them was a dream.  they had total trust and confidence that we'll capture their day in our signature style.

k and q, we can take pics of you guys all day long.  thanks for having us come along for the fun ride that was your wedding day!

sharine + zack | carmel | beach | engagement

sharine and zack's session was so fun to do.  we went to carmel and there was no end to the number of cool walls, unique storefronts and dramatic backdrops.  we wanted to catch the sunset for this session and were watching the clouds all day long.  when we started shooting the sunset it was like the heavens were closing their garage door for the night.  the dark clouds were coming down on the horizon like a heavy blanket.  made for some really nice shots.  i brought my off camera flash setup to mix things up and we ended up getting some really killer shots.

can't wait for their wedding in may when we get to shoot at a huge house up in santa cruz!
