Marianne & Duane | Barbados | Beach | Engagement Session 2
Barbados Part Deux
The best part of being back is being able to share our trip with everyone else. I know it makes people jealous and wish that their job flew them to exotic locales, but it's not all fun and games. It's hard work! We had to drive around in taxi's and go to unfamiliar locations. Eat unfamiliar food. Swim in unfamiliar beaches with unfamiliar waves. Did we really want to swim in that crystal clear water and eat that juicy chicken curry Roti? You mean we have to get out of our air-conditioned hotel rooms and take pictures in warm sunny weather? What if a shark comes up behind me while I'm exploring a sunken ship while snorkeling?
Man, that's just too stressful! Despite all that, we had such a great time going around taking pictures all over Barbados. We literally drove around the whole island! Valdez, our driver, was so fun and welcoming. He took us to old slave homes, sugar cane factories, huge island resorts, the best beaches, the golf resort that Tiger Woods got married at, just everywhere.
All that unfamiliarity and hard work was worth it! Marianne and Duane's parents even followed us around too, to give us encouragement. Or was it to make sure that I was taking good pictures? hmmm. Well I'm glad they came, because both their moms are fun to hang out with.
If you haven't caught on by now, there's a little sarcasm about the unfamiliarity. I LOVE traveling. That's why I got into wedding photography in the first place.
TO ALL FUTURE CLIENTS: If you're not having a destination wedding, then we can still do a destination engagement session! Ask me about it.
This was one of my favorite locations to shoot at. I love architecture like this.
This place housed the Queen of England twice, but each time it burned down. Lucky for us.
Valdez thinks that this looks like a postcard of Barbados. Maybe I can start selling it as one!
This is their I'm relaxed and having fun in front of a bus stop pose. They are highly trained models for sure.
This is their Banana Republic pose.
Marianne was able to lift him off for almost one second. Duanne imagined he was flying.
One of my favorite shots that Ingrid took.
The sky and beaches there were amazing. I love nighttime photography, it adds so much drama.
Marianne & Duane | Barbados | Engagement Session 1
...And we're back! Oh my goodness, Barbados was awesome and I'm happy to report that while Jerry got a total of 25 mosquito bites, I only got three! We have so much to share, but then again, we have so much work to do now that we played in Barbados. This will be the first one of three posts for Marianne and Duane's wedding.

Barbados!!!
We're heading to Barbados tonight! This will be our first international destination wedding and we're so excited! Getting a destination wedding outside of the U.S. was one of my goals for next year, but it came earlier than I thought and I feel so blessed.
We'll try to get an internet connection in the hotel so that we can post some pictures while we're there. To all of our clients, we'll do our best to keep in contact, but we might not be able to answer emails and calls till Monday next week.
Here's a picture of how excited we are right now. AHHHHHH BARBADOSSSSS!
Marilyn & Josh Slideshow
As some of you blog stalkers may know, Josh and Marilyn, are one of our closest friends. Their wedding at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley was simply amazing. This was a fun slideshow to make and hard to cut down on the pictures, because we had so many to post! We have so many pictures of them it's not even funny. We did their pre-engagement session, their engagement session, their rehearsal, their wedding day, and finally their post-wedding session. I'm so glad that we've got so many pictures of them, because they are in Michigan now and I miss them so much.
Marilyn looked absolutely stunning in her dress. Some of those shots with her looking out over the whole Bay area are my favorite shots of all time.
Hey Josh and Marilyn, I hope that this slideshow brings back good memories and that you are doing well out there. I know you keep up with this blog, so here's a shout out to you guys! We love you and wish you the best out there. See you in January for Steve and Audrey's wedding which we'll be shooting too!
Anna & Brad Post Wedding Shoot
I love it when we get to do a post-wedding shoot with the bride and groom. We can relax a little, get creative and have a lot of fun. That's why we're so excited about Brad and Anna's post wedding shoot. We took them all around San Francisco, joking that we were their tour service, since they came all the way from Atlanta, Georgia!
Anna and Brad were such troopers. We took them to Baker Beach and it was freezing! Between clattering teeth and running away from the tide, Anna was able to strike some very sexy poses.
By the end of the shoot, the four of us were starving. Anna and Brad kept talking about going to eat tacos and were getting more and more excited about mexican food as the day wore on. This got Jerry and me hankering for mexican food. As soon as we got back, we gobbled up a bunch of fajitas.
We had so much fun with you two and are so glad you came all the way to San Francisco!

Marilyn & Josh Wedding Teaser
Marilyn and Josh held their reception in the Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science while there was a circus exhibit inside. When they were searching for places to hold the reception and visited LHS as a candidate, the first thing that Josh and Marilyn saw upon entering the doors was a huge T-Rex skull, back dropped by a purple and yellow mural of one of Escher's patterns, and on the far side of the room, a circus tent.
Marilyn was a little doubtful about using the space, but Josh's first reaction was "THIS IS SO COOL!". This made for some creative options for reception activities. Their wedding was nevertheless beautiful because they are truly incredible people. We have been blessed to shoot their wedding.
The rings are shot on a guitar controller for the game Guitar Hero. Both Josh and Marilyn were music majors and can tear up that game like no other.
One of my favorite things about this wedding was being able to find ways to do some killer group ghots. Those bridesmaids were on top of their game!
Thanks Josh and Marilyn for being such awesome friends and entrusting us with your special day. Hope Michigan is treating you well. We miss you so much it hurts our insides and our outsides. Including my metaphysicalsides.
Kristin & Greg's Wedding
The day we met Kristin and Greg, Jerry and Kristin hit it off because Kristin is a big time rock climber and they happen to go to the same rock climbing gym! Of course we had to get some shots of the bride climbing in her wedding dress.
Kristin and Greg had such a sweet wedding and I could tell immediately how much their friends love them. One of my favorite parts was when the Best Man's little girl came running out onto the floor when the Maid of Honor was giving her speech. She ran around giddily for a while, and because it was a hot day, she stood over the floor vent lifting up her dress so that she could get all of the cool air. She is so adorable! Below you can see how the best man came up with creative ways to make weddings fun for his kid.
