Amy & Wayne | Sequoyah Country Club | Claremont Resort | Oakland Hills | Wedding

It seems like things are coming in pairs for us this year.  We had a pair of back-to-back engagement shoots with convertibles in them.  A pair of back-to-back LA weddings in May and June.  A pair of country club weddings back-to-back.  This time we had a beautiful wedding at the Sequoyah Country Club up here in the Oakland Hills.

Amy and Wayne are avid golfers, with Wayne coming to this country club almost every weekend.  It's a spanking nice golf course with a breathtaking 10th hole that looks out over the bay.  We even spotted Mike Dirnt, the bassist for Green Day, on the course.  Who would have thought.

Wayne was super excited that we got to do a shoot on the course.  I think we both wanted to just pick up some clubs and golf that day, but of course we had a wedding to tend to.  We had so much fun at the wedding though.  At one point everyone was trying to get Wayne to jump into the swimming pool.  But he was too sober.  Next time.

Hey Amy, one more shot?

Wayne lit up when it came time to do the golf shoot.  He actually rushed away in his golf cart and returned to us with all his clubs.  We love it when the guys have fun too.

I ran after Amy as she drove the golf cart around in circles.  I almost ran into a tree, a mud hole and got ran over by the cart, but it's all good.

While Amy was getting ready, she said "Wayne better cry!".  He did.

Amy and Wayne did a great job with the details.  The night before their wedding, Amy stood up late making last minute details!  I loved the rich color scheme.  Nicole, the florist, did an amazing job.

Their wedding favors were white chocolate truffle golf balls with golf tees.

I think Wayne snorted some of that stuff.  Amy was having way too much fun.

Jennifer & Cedric | Lake Elizabeth Park | Fremont | Engagement Session

We were pretty excited when we found out that Jennifer and Cedric wanted to do a volley ball themed engagement session.  They didn't mind landing on their faces again and again to help us get the shot, so really they deserve some high fives for a risky shoot.

I played varsity volleyball in highschool, so this shoot had a very close place to my heart.  All those memories of the times that the ball hit me square in the face and my skin sliding against the gym floor came flooding back to me.  We had so much fun with all the action shots, that it made me really want to play again.  It was a blast hanging out with such a silly and laid back couple.

Nina & Chang Soo | Christ the King Church | Pleasant Hill | Bridges Golf Club | San Ramon | Wedding

Nina and Chang Soo's wedding was a dream to shoot.  So many perfect elements came together like having a beautiful bride, a fun wedding party and of course beautiful locations.  We also had another awesome photographer, Carmen Alvarez, come out and shoot with us too!  Having three photographers there is like a dream, because we know that absolutely everything is getting covered and all we have to do is take fun shots the whole time.

We had a blast riding around in golf carts with the whole wedding party before the reception.  The club gave us four carts and we found some cool places to shoot.  We got in trouble too, because we were going into dangerous areas with the potential to get hit by golf balls.  But it was worth it!

The tea ceremony was a blast to shoot, as the groomsmen had to do all these silly activities to get Nina to come out. I think Chang Soo and his groomsman, David, actually touched lips during one of the noodle sips.  It was really sweet to see how much love there was in the room.  Nina's sister has been waiting day and night for this post, so this one is dedicated to her.

Nina had some groovy shoes that we lit with an external flash.

The groomsmen had to go through "trials" in order to see the bride.  This particular trial involves a single rice noodle and two men, sort of like Lady and the Tramp.  Hilarity ensues.

Changsoo and Nina were married in Christ the King Church in Pleasant Hill.  The church had a huge skylight above the stage that lit the up couple.

Their ceremony had such a celebratory atmosphere because the officient was so lively and funny.  Nina's parents cracking up:

One of Nina and Chang-soo's friends sang Josh Groban's The Prayer.  I couldn't believe my ears!!   I had to keep my mouth from hanging open in awe.  This girl... she's good.

Jolene & Chris | Milpitas | Golf Land | Summitpointe Golf Club | Mini Golf | Engagement Session

Running through a mini-golf course and terrorizing families was fun.  Ok, we didn't terrorize families, but they were all staring at us and giving us that polite awkward smile.  Some were laughing with us too.  Or is it laughing at us?  Well let's just say that we all had so much fun.

Jolene and Chris were such a blast to hang out with and shoot.  Their whole wedding is centered around a golf theme.  They were so excited for this shoot and when we got to running around the Milpitas Gold Land course, we all felt like little kids being bad.  We climbed onto anything and everything.  We thought for sure we were going to get kicked out.  I guess security was non-existant that day.

Afterwards, we decided to do some "normal" pictures at Summitpoint Golf Club.  Well, normal to us usually means finding a mean backdrop and making our couples look beauteous.  Oh and this is the second shoot in consecutive weeks that showcases a cool convertible!

Remember that Target shoot we had with Steve and Audrey?  Well we took it literally this time.

After some Kung-Fu fighting, they became friends.  The fighting pictures were too violent to post for younger audiences.

Sandy & John | Napa valley | Domaine Chandon winery | Engagement Session

Napa is one fun place!  I knew from the moment Sandy told me that she wanted to go to Napa that we'll be able to find some cool locations to shoot at.  Not only that, Sandy and John both have had modeling experience.  Check out Sandy's portfolio and web design work at Sandswirl.com, she's got some great shots in her galleries!

It was super hot in Napa that day and we were constantly battling the heat, but Sandy and John were troopers.  We started off shooting at the front mushroom garden on Domaine Chandon winery in Napa.   It was a fun location with all these mushroom rocks that a local artist made.  John was pretty excited to bring his Ford Retro Thunderbird to the shoot and we made some good use of that fun prop.  The huge wine crates at the winery served as a very cool backdrop and we didn't get kicked out!

I can't wait to shoot their wedding in August and then their post-wedding session!  I'm sure Sandy's going to look absolutely stunning in her dress.  Thanks guys for the wine and everything else!

The crates were really cool to be next to, literally!  So we stayed there for a while.

John had to climb up there for this dangerous shot, but I think he's a certified crate climber.  Great idea John!

John's Retro Bird.  So hot!  We actually had to put a towel underneath Sandy, because the car was very hot.  Hot couple, hot car, hot photographers, hot sun!

It kinda looks like they're on a ship with all those containers.

Curtis & Shana | San Francisco | Urban | Pier | North Beach | Golden Gate | Engagement Session

Curtis and Shana are awesome photographers from Missouri.  They have their own studio emphasizing in seniors, babies and children at ShanaWatkins.com.  So when they contacted us and wanted us to do their engagement session, we were stoked!  They flew all the way out to San Francisco, one of their favorite spots, for this session.  Shana wanted something more urban and edgy, because their wedding will be full of greenery.  That's one of my favorite things to hear, because I love the look and feel of an urban shoot.

I can't blame them for wanting to come all the way out to SF for a shoot, because the weather is so nice here!  Curtis and Shana were so easy going and fun to work with.  They were up for anything, even though they probably felt really silly at times.  There was one shot in the park where Shana was lying down and Curtis was on top of her with me shooting down on them to get the cool looking grass around them.  I wanted to make sure I got a good shot with the hands in the right place, so it took some time to get that.  Fun times!

The lovely Shana.

Richard & Esther | San Francisco | Embarcadero | Bay Bridge | Pier | Engagement Session

When I first met Richard and Esther I just remember them being so kind and warm to me.  They are such a sweet couple and spending time with them was like a breath of fresh air.  Walking around Embarcadero with them reminded me of scenes from movies where the couple has a happy ending together walking off into the distance.  Richard was kind enough to share his favorite get away spots around that area and now I know where to find him when he wants to be left alone!

I can't wait for October to roll around as we'll be going out to Bali to shoot their destination wedding!

Richard_Esther-1026%20copy.jpg

I never get tired of shooting the Bay Bridge.  I like it even better than the golden one across the way.
