christine + nick | new york botanical garden | new york | wedding
i've been waiting a long time for this one. i first met christine and nick at marianne and duane's wedding reception. i just remember this super excited korean girl wanting me to take her wedding pictures and nick being this really calm dude with a cool brooklyn accent. well whenever someone's excited like that, you know it's going to be fun shooting with them.
it all happened so fast, but what i do remember is our long limo ride to yankee stadium after the wedding and just enjoying the car ride with them.
without further ado, the highlights from their wedding.

jacqueline + raymond | san francisco | engagement session
we just love this session. some of my favorite elements are in this session. can you guess what?
deborah + revi | piedmont community center | oakland | wedding
i was excited to shoot deborah and revi's wedding because deborah is none other than my former roommate. it was a very short time that we lived together, since she had to go and get married so fast. seriously, what's the rush? well, revi's truly a fine gentleman, so i don't blame her. we all miss her at our little temescal co-housing community that we have here.
for their party favors, deborah made about a hundred miniature shoes, all different types and colors. these were all handmade and i can testify to watching her sit there for hours on end hand making each one by herself. she's a trooper!
here's a few highlights from her sweet wedding at the piedmont community hall in oakland.

karaoke rager | part deux
part deux: meghul's karaoke wedding rager
so the first half of the night was beautiful, elegant, touching, and very personal. what you may not have known is that meg and rahul planned a costumed karaoke reception for their guests. and not just any normal karaoke event, but one led by the most awesome karaoke dj in the world, DJ PURPLE. major props to him for having every english song on hand, but also foreign hits that were in their native language! yeah, we heard german punk/pop for the first time and some familiar indian hits. it was as if all of their friends had been waiting for ages to have a proper stage to show off their guns and roses chops.
meg and rahul had been telling their friends to bring a costume and their a-game. the madness was brought and the rest is now history.
meghul, you guys ROCK HARD.

ingrid snuck off with the rings and came up with this cool shot
yup, that is meg's father in a tutu. i heart him.
it was very hot and heavy at times
love this shot of her feet!
you gotta love family
meg's mom bringing down the hammer!
this is why we've stayed away from nikon. it does things to your brain.
anybody that wears red hot vinyl pants on their wedding day is my friend for life
DJ purple was the man. he would rip on the sax when people were struggling with lyrics and bring up the energy levels
NEVER CALMER BEFORE A RAGER | meg + rahul | montclaire women's cultural arts club | green | oakland | wedding | part one
the words below won't be doing justice to the awesomeness that is meghul. meghul's union was LEGENDARY. we will be telling our kids bedtime stories about this very night. a wedding that was pregnant with the loftiest expectations and yet managed to exceed them beyond our wildest dreams. by now, we've been to a bajillion weddings, but for meghul, ingrid almost cried several times.
it was so good that we had to split the post into two sections, less ye be blinded by the glory of their wedding. part two will include the reception alone. here is their sneak peak pictures of what is to come of their reception post. their ceremony was so genuine, hilariously informative, and very exciting to watch. friends came up and made poems for them with costume changes. another group changed the lyrics of a song to fit them and brandished a hundred cards with pictures and quotes on them. rahul's father officiated for them in such a sweet and personal manner.
not only that, but the whole wedding was GREEN! we haven't written much about our love for greening weddings on our blog yet, but we're proponents of getting weddings as green as possible. they bussed people in from san francisco on biodiesel buses! which tackles one of the biggest problems with weddings not being green - the huge amount of traffic generated from traveling guests. eric fenster from back to earth catered the shindig with some really delicious vegetarian cookin'. say what? a vegetarian meal for a wedding?! we were so thankful the whole night, cuz meat make photographers all gassy and sluggish during the reception. the list of green awesomeness goes on and on that i could just cry. the vendor list will be forthcoming in the second post, i promise.
this first post is the calm before the storm. now we leave you to it.
we never post formals, unless your formals look like this! i hunger for fun formals.
teresa + joe | mission district | san francisco | engagement shoot
i won't be able to shoot teresa and joe's wedding next year so they hired me to just shoot their engagement session. it's always sad to shoot such a fun session with a totally hip and awesome couple only to know that it's just a quick fling.
wishing you guys all the best!
ten points to the person who figures out how i got her hair to do magic tricks!
love this series.
luchen + andrew | civic center | san francisco | wedding
a whole tube of benadryl anti-itch cream later, we are back with no more mosquito bites. we'll show you pictures of the crazy monkeys later. right now, it's good to be home.
we're shooting luchen and andrew's wedding this coming saturday, so i thought i'd share some photos of their civil ceremony at the san francisco civic center. their parents wanted them to get married on september 15th because it was a lucky day. unfortunately, the day fell on a monday so they did a separate civil ceremony. fortunately, that means double the party!
waiting...
i love the look on both luchen and the baby's face.
