kevin + irene | san francisco | engagement session
night sessions can be seen as a virtual nightmare for photography. most photographers like to work with natural light. i do too. but i actually enjoy working in night situations, because it forces me to use so many different types of light sources in creative ways.
we started the session with kevin and irene running down a busy street in downtown san francisco. they almost got run over by a car. that day was very windy and cold. so i wanted to warm them up by having them run. it also helped that the city backdrop there looked so cool.

it was cold enough to see your breath.
we're about to bomb your RSS feeders
with blog posts every single day this week. yup, full blog postings every single day. why the sudden torrential outpouring you say?
well we're leaving for NYC on oct. 22nd and coming back oct. 26th. then oct. 27th we're leaving for bali and then coming back on nov. 6th. we'll be shooting two engagement sessions in NYC and a wedding. Then we'll be shooting a bali post wedding session and spending the extra time there to get some well deserved massages. full body. which means that we need to push everything out the door, fire sale style, before we leave so we can get images to our beloved clients on time.
we've been cranking out production in our studio 24/7 these days and we'll be doing 25/7 worth of work this week getting all this stuff out.
and what blog post is complete without a picture posting? we realized that we had an absolute dearth of images of ourselves. it's the story of the cobbler having no shoes of his own. so we went out and shot some recent photos of ourselves playing around. there's more in the about us section of the blog.

diana + mike | cypress hotel | saratoga federated church | abc seafood restaurant | south bay | wedding
diana and mike have true blue bear blood running through their veins. cal fans to the T. i love it! we first started off with their engagement session at memorial stadium with none other than the one and only Oski. if you type "oski engagement session" into google it's the only session that pops up in the world wide web. i wonder if we created history there. when we arrived at their hotel, both rooms were running the cal game on tv. and then to cap it all off, they were introduced in cal jerseys at the reception. GO BEARS!
subtle glances did a great job with the invitations. they worked with diana and mike to design their wedding logo.
helen + victor | hyatt | legion of honor | yank sing | san francisco | wedding
i don't think we really worked at helen and victor's wedding. it was too relaxing and fun to call it work. no it was more like hanging out and taking some pictures with people that we just love hanging out with.
lots to talk about for this wedding, so i'll just insert the talking below.
ingrid is getting more and more creative with her shoe shots. this is a reflection off of a table.
these are some major party shoes. i was mesmerized by them.
the ring bearer and i had a fun time exchanging funny faces all night long.
helen, right before they go upstairs for the ceremony.
love this shot that ingrid snagged!
this has got to be one of my all time favorites. ingrid posted these two shots for the blog and didn't notice how the one below is a perfect segue image.
love the look on victor's face.
love this candid that ingrid snapped.
i didn't notice how many kids there were at this party until i made it a point to walk around and capture a fun shot of each kid. i think this is only half of all the cute kids.
this is actually a pretty gross image. poor wilbur, he has pom-poms in his ears.
see, i couldn't stop following these shoes.
this little lady couldn't have been more than 9 years old. she's got dance moves that would put madonna to shame.
the yoon family | berkeley | lifestyle session
another exciting post for the week! this time it's the yoon family. nope they aren't related to me at all. at least i don't think they are. but i do hope that the good looking children gene somehow runs in the yoon bloodstream, because their kids are uber cute.
this was such a fun session for all of us and i love how we even got grandma in it too.
if you're thinking about getting a session like this before christmas time, then send us an email soon, as our holiday schedule is filling up!
joy + royce | the marriot | saint dominic's church | walnut creek | downtown benecia | wedding
this will be one of our most massive posts ever with 32 images! so stoked to have come to this point in time, because i still remember meeting joy and royce at marianne and duane's rainy wedding reception in berkeley. joy and marianne were very emotional at their meeting, because they were such close friends from childhood and hadn't seen each other in such a long time. i guess photographers are good with remembering who the emotional people are at a wedding. i was also secretly hoping that they'd hire me for their wedding as well. i guess my night time vigils at the foot of my bed paid off!
joy and royce's wedding had everything in it. when joy was walking down that aisle, it looked like a sea of family members were all beaming at her in such a deeply happy way. i seriously almost lost it right then and there. yes, i too can get all teary still at weddings. we had green ice cones in downtown benecia and their tongues were all green when they got to the reception. how cool is that! also, the emotion in the room when they danced with both their mothers, because their fathers had both passed away, was intense. i'm definitely going to remember this wedding for a long time.
thanks guys for having us document your day and thank you marianne for bringing us together!
priscilla + tony | old town pasadena | down town los angeles | engagement session
as i'm writing this i'm getting many flashbacks of my college days living with tony in our nasty apartment. there were many moments shared between us that is best not revealed on the internets. i will leave it at that.
tony and i have very similar senses of humor that falls very flat with our significant others. i'm sure millions of girlfriends can relate. we always take unfunny jokes to another level and then laugh all that much harder, while our girlfriends just stare and roll their eyes. so putting us together leads to an exponential magnification of jokes that only 12 yr old boys can appreciate. well, needless to say, this led to good times.
