Tiffany & Kyle | Presbyterian Church of Sunnyvale | Memorial Park | Dynasty | Wedding

I remember throughout the wedding day, people saying how well Tiffany and Kyle were matched.  I was curious as to why people were talking about this so much, so I did some calculations and ran the question through a complex relationship algorithm developed by NASA.  Basically, I just sat here and thought about what makes them such a good match.  Then out popped the answer.  Kyle is this genuinely sweet goofball and Tiffany loves to just laugh with him or at him, either or.

This makes sense, because Tiffany's father is a super cool dad that isn't shy about being silly and just having some fun.  If you need proof then check out their father daughter dance!  They totally tore it up on the dance floor together.  Usually, you see the bride and groom doing crazy antics like that.

The following pictures portray a super cool couple and their wedding day.

 The stunning bride.

Super cool father has a super messy office!  Here's Tiffany figuring out the last details for the wedding.

While the boys play poker... typical.

What happens in Cyprus Hotel stays in Cyprus Hotel.

Love how this shot makes Kyle look like he's a protected VIP.

I think she recognized someone in the crowd, thus the I recognize you and I'm happy face.

hugs, kisses, congrats.  I'm lovin' the love fest.

Hot couple!

Their father daughter dance was a riot!  Check out them moves.

Kyle busting out his moves.  I wonder what kind of dance move he's doing there.

Kyle LOVES spam... mmm, as do we.

Our Friend Peter

So from time to time we get to do portraits of our friends.  Peter is a chef.  A chef with a big heart.  He's always cooking things for people because he loves to share his passion with the world.  One of these days he's going to have his own restaurant and I'll go there and eat all the food.  That's what friends are for.  Rockstar chef meets rockstar eater.  oh yeah.

Chef by night, detective by day.  What are you looking for Peter?

Jody & Mick | UC Berkeley Campus | Campanile | Engagement Shoot

Things are heating up around here!  We've got 2 more engagement shoots and 6 more weddings to post in the next couple weeks.  Yikes!  How fast can we work...hmmm, time to crack the whip!

Mick and Jody's engagement shoot was so fun to shoot.  They were so comfortable in front of the camera and were able to just talk to each other the whole time as if I wasn't even there.  We got just hang out and talk a lot too on the Berkeley campus.  It felt like I was a student there again, just watching everyone walk on by, except this time I had a big camera and not a backpack on my person.

This is like my billionth time I've shot on campus, so it's getting harder and harder to come up with new shots.  How many times can I shoot the Campanile from a different angle?  But, we managed to try different things and that always leads to even better shots.

So thanks guys for being troopers and doing all sorts of silly things on campus!  Can't wait to shoot your wedding in 11 days!

Campanile take #45,900,882!

Alex & Josh | Casa Garden | Sacramento | Wedding

Be careful who you sit next to at a wedding reception, because they just might become your photographer!  That's how it began with Alex, Josh and us.  We were shooting Tony and Stephanie's wedding, when the charming couple next to us told us that they're getting married a year later.  We exchanged information and the rest is history.

Alex and Josh had a small and intimate wedding at the Casa Garden in Sactown (not sure if they still call it that, but it rolls off the tongue much better).  Their friends and family were so nice to us that we instantly felt like we were a part of the wedding, too.  I think I could have followed Alex's dad around all day and just photograph him.  He was a well of emotion contained in a bear of a man that day.  He held himself together pretty well though.

Alex and Josh couldn't wait to dance throughout the whole day.  Their reception was cut a little short because the curfew was pushed up, so when the time came, everyone boogied like crazy.  People got down and I mean DOWN on the dance floor.  That kind of stuff is contagious!

Thanks so much for letting us be a part of the family that day.

Their first look together.  HOT.

Alex got to share a quiet moment with her parents before the whole thing started.

These guys were tons of fun to shoot.  As soon I said leap frog their eyes lit up, and we quickly ushered Josh in to be platform from which his groomsmen would vault off of.  HOLY COW, this guy has hops.  I love Josh's apprehensive body language.

The beautiful bride!  I loved that Alex wore her hair down and her bouquet looked like wild flowers.  It made everything look so natural and effortlessly pretty.

Josh is all smiles!

He knows he snagged a good one.

Love this shot of all the girls.  Such sweet emotion!

Sportin' the super glam.

My favorite shot of the day.

And the crazy dancing begins!  Here are a couple great ones of the groomsmen getting down.

Jawdropping.  Yeah, me too!

Maricar & James | St. Raymond Church | San Ramon Community Center | Wedding

During their engagement shoot, I was really excited to learn that James and Maricar own five chickens!  Oh man, I couldn't wait to see them.  I love chickens!  On the day of the wedding, James showed me how to wrangle the chickens and pick them up.  We took pictures of them with the chickens, but Maricar wouldn't get near them.  And that's pretty much how we began their wedding shoot.

Oh and the funniest thing happened during the ceremony.  The men in James' family has had a long history of crying first at weddings, well not just crying, but bawling even.  James and Maricar had a bet on who would cry first.  So the moment James opens his mouth for his vows, he lets out this big cry/laugh at the same time.  And most of the audience knew about this bet too, so everyone was cracking up together.

Our friend and photographer Liz Song also shot with us.  She got so many great shots, I can't wait to work with her again.

The dress shot, done a little differently.

I love this picture because it was the exact moment that Maricar heard her top clasp click.  It's always an ordeal to get the dress on, and she was so happy, she pumped her fists in the air.

Cool cats in a coop of chickens.

baGAWK

We crossed a construction zone on our way to the mall.  Thought this went well with their wedding colors.

Liz brought the wedding party to the nearby grocery store to grab some drinks and popcicles.  I love this shot!

Maricar couldn't help but laugh at James losing his bet.

Do you guys know what a trust fall is?  Here is Maricar showing that she really trusts her wedding party.  Team building exercises before the reception!

Some sweet details.

There was an overload of cute children at their wedding.

This technicolor wall was a great idea.

Veronica & Paul J | Villa Del Sol D'oro | Pasadena | Wedding

We've been excited about this post for a while now.  I mean, holy smokes, look at those details.  And Veronica and Paul J, we love them so much!  Everything was done in such good taste.  The extremely talented wedding coordinator, Angel from Events of Love and Splendor put it all together and made sure everything ran smoothly, even through the blistering L.A. heatwave.  Veronica and Paul J were amazing as always, some times I wish we can do their wedding over and over again.

Veronica and her family love to read.  We found classic hard cover books throughout the whole villa.  Props to Angel and Kristin from Treasured Petal for finding gorgeous ways to incorporate the books with the flowers.  Along the lines of the book theme, wedding favors featured ultra cool notebooks that you can link together by Esther Mun from Start Here.  Needless to say, this massive post deserves tons of juicy images.

Coordinator: Angel from Events of Love and Splendor

Florist: Kristin of Treasured Petal

Bridesmaids Dresses: Anthropologie

Venue: Villa Del Sol D'oro

Favors: Start Here Notebooks

Dress: Pronovias from Mon Amie in Costa Mesa

Shoes: Jessica Simpson smoking hot red heels

We love the blue room.

The day was ridiculously hot.  The boys kept cool by keeping a sock handy, since socks are better at absorbing moisture than kleenexes.  Very handy! (They were clean socks.)

Veronica wanted a photo booth station where people could dress up and take pictures during the reception.  We happily obliged, since what could be better than dressing up like pirates?!?!  Nothing!

Someone's little boy was just chillin in the ratan chairs during the ceremony, eating his lollipop.  Sometimes it good to be a kid.

Venice & Yoshi | DeYoung Museum | Golden Gate Park | San Francisco | Engagement Session

My time with Venice and Yoshi was so chill.  We met in front of the DeYoung Museum inside Golden Gate Park on a sunny afternoon.  The DeYoung and the park always makes for a fun canvas.  I actually woke up that morning with racing thoughts of inspiration for this shoot.  In an effort to constantly keep things fresh, I'm always looking for things to inspire me.  This time it was the thought of freedom.  The freedom to shoot whatever comes to mind and just go for it. Freedom from any rules about how to shoot an engagement session.  Within, some boundaries of course.  It wouldn't be very useful if I just did macro shots of their third fingernails.

Hanging out with you guys was so relaxing and informative!  I can't wait to see you guys for your wedding on Sunday.

Venice's favorite watch version 2.  She lost the first one, so Yoshi bought her another one.  Ingrid has a boy's watch too, so we related on that level.
