I'm so confused
I got 3 friend requests today on Facebook. This one is from my dad. I have no idea how I should react to this. One part of me wants to laugh at how hilarious it is to see that my dad wants to be my friend on facebook. Another part thinks, WOW, my dad is the coolest asian dad I know. The other part is wondering how my dad even knows about facebook or anything internet related at all. I'm so curious as to see who I'll find on his facebook page. Please don't tell me it'll be full of my dad's friends from my childhood. This is just so weird to me right now.
Anyone else experience something like this?
Some of you may have heard this already, but pretty much all the cool images that you see on this blog are because of my dad. I grew up watching my dad paint his fine art paintings all my life. I didn't know it at the time, but all those hours of watching him paint and thinking that I would never be able to be as good an artist as him has completely shaped my artistic abilities to what they are now. I always wanted to be able to create art like him, but I thought it would be too hard for me to even come close. Even now my art comes no where near his abilities. It's funny to think that as a little boy I was learning about lighting, composition, and colors without me even knowing it.
Thanks dad. You're my hero and friend. I guess I should add you on my facebook now.

Ya, My mom was on facebook before I was.
I think that's a little sadder!
there's plenty of room on facebook for us old farts!
aw, can he be my friend, too? that's so cool.
i guess he will be a blogstalker too if he hasnt been already!
I think it would be cool to add your dad to your facebook. There should be no shame in that, especially if he helped inspire you in your work. It would be like going out in public and not acknowledging your dad or any family member for that matter. I think people kinda treat places like facebook and myspace as an online diary of their thoughts, and they don't want their family to read it, even though you could have complete strangers read about you. Whatever I put on my myspace or facebook I consider open to the public. So don't put what you don't want others to read. =)
Marie - that is hilarious, your mom sounds like a cool cat. Is she on twitter as well? If my dad ever gets on that, it would rock my world!
Leland - you're far from being an old fart! It was great meeting you at WPPI this year. I hope to see you at a PPGBA meeting soon.
emac - you can add him if you want, just search for his name and I'll let him know that you're not some weird stranger.
lynn - he is the biggest blog stalker. he actually gives me tips and advice on what i should do to improve the blog. aww, dad, so funny.
Maria - I agree, being open with your parents is fun and a good way to communicate with them. which reminds me that i need to call home more often.
hey, you should post pics of your dad's artwork (if you haven't already)! show us some of this great art work!
