Pasadena City Hall | Los Angeles Wedding | Sarah + Steve
Photography by Ingrid and Jerry
Finally, we get to post my cousin, Sarah's, wedding! We're excited that Wedding Chicks featured their wedding today. Angel Swanson of Love & Splendor pulled off another beautiful wedding for us to shoot at the Pasadena City Hall down in Los Angeles. It was surreal shooting at the house that my cousin grew up in and where we went every summer to swim as kids. I'm so glad that we also got to spend more time with Steve, who we got to know better during our engagement photo shoot with him and Sarah out in Philadelphia. It was a hot day to shoot, but none of that mattered when all our families were there to celebrate our first cousin getting married. Growing up I never imagined that I would photograph my own cousin's wedding. So glad I did though!
I love how my aunt is running tighter security on Sarah here than the Secret Service. I'm sure Steve would have lost the full use of his right hand had he put more than a drop of cake on her nose.
This was quite possibly the sweetest and most emotional mother/son dance I've ever seen. She hugged him so tight and they just cried together.
Best post-wedding snack ever! The Korean Kogi BBQ taco truck came and fed all the late night partygoers.
This is my dad in this wig, from whom I get my sense of humor.

California Academy of Science | San Francisco Wedding | Elaine + Rudy | Part 4
Elaine and Rudy held their cocktail hour in the aquarium, which with the light and colors, makes it one of our favorite spaces to shoot. The guests also watched a planetarium show, which we badly wanted to document, but we weren't allowed to.
The details for Elaine and Rudy's wedding were surreal! Each centerpiece looked slightly different, with a very cute animal/creature theme for each table. Elaine took the time to think of clever little phrases for each of the creatures. A couple of my favorites are "Let's monkey around" and "You're sweet and I'm not Lion". -Ingrid

After Elaine and Rudy's first look, we quickly snapped some pictures at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Matthieu, their videographer, was kind enough to let us blast his multiple video lights on their faces.

V. Sattui Winery | Napa Wedding | Ji + Ken
Photography by Ingrid and Jerry
Three weeks before their wedding at V. Sattui Winery in Napa, Ken emailed me to ask me if I can do him a favor. I thought it would be a photographic favor but instead he asked me if I could help him translate his vows into Korean. Ken doesn't speak a lick of Korean and he's not from a Korean family, so this was a very interesting request. I know he wanted to show Ji's family how much he loves Ji, but I thought he was nuts! I thought that with his busy law school schedule, there wasn't enough time for him to memorize a whole page of vows in another language in only a few weeks. I was genuinely worried for him. I sent the vows to my dad and also some friends in Korea. Then I combined the two formal and informal translations into one for Ken to memorize. On the day of the wedding, while Ken was getting dressed, I went over his pronunciation. During the ceremony, his brother held up white cards translating his Korean vows into Englsih. Everyone, especially Ji's parents, were extremely impressed. I could not believe he pulled it off! I've seen a lot of wedding vows but Ken's will definitely be one that I remember for the rest of my life!
